Web Site” |
Project
Description:
BarCar.com
is a web community that was created by Touchscreen
Media Group. This web site is dedicated
to the celebration and preservation of the
bar car, café car or other common
area on commuter transport where people
habitually congregate and interact on their
return from a hard days’ work. BarCar.com
features multiple posting areas, a bulletin
board, a petition area, links to charitable
causes and other points of interest, as
well as a feature that allows users to e-mail
animated cocktails to their friends: “Free
drinks!” In July of 1998 Touchscreen
received a Peoples Choice web site 500 Award,
Yahoo! Cool Links Award, and WCBS Internet
Minute Award for the BarCar.com community
web site.
Role: My
role in this project was to work on the
production team creating graphics for the
site. I also designed and created a 3D BarCar
banner ad in VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling
Language) The banner ad features a moving
train that can be clicked on to link to
the site.
Applications:
I used 3DS MAX to
create the environment, the animated train,
and export the VRML. The texture and environment
maps used in the banner ad were created
in Photoshop. I also used Photoshop, Illustrator,
and Animagic to make various graphics for
the site.
If
you have a VRML 2.0 compatible plug-in,
you will see it listed below.
